Oh god does he ever and if you watch the video, you can see why. Tony, in this case, is a keyword for him.

This kind of presentation, having to translate your guests for your audience and your questions for your guest has a lot of ‘dead air’ for the guests on stage. Their role is very small and they need to keep from making The Spectacle of themselves. If they make The Spectacle of themselves, they take away the translation for people who can’t easily follow both languages and that is unfair to everyone.

If you watch the first half of the video, Ms. Paltrow is as at ease as you can be while on stage and others are speaking. She has the very polite, mild smile of someone who can’t quite keep up with what’s being said, or who is slightly bored of it, but is quite willing to calmly wait it out.

RDJ, on the other hand, is having trouble restraining himself from doing something interesting to make the time pass faster. He’s swaying on his feet in a manner that suggests self-soothing, forcing himself to wait it out. He knows that this is his job, he has to do it, he has to get through this, but it’s boring and he has to at least pretend to pay attention even though it’s all very scripted and he’s rehearsed it already to keep from going overtime which would throw the presentation off and that would be rude. He’s shown up with the intention of not being The Spectacle, in this case, Tony Stark, because he knows he needs to be polite. And it’s hard and boring, but he’s doing it anyway because it’s his job.

And then the interviewer calls him Tony and RDJ realizes that’s happened and it’s like permission. No. Okay. He’s now allowed to be a little more of The Spectacle, even if a muted version. This is what everyone, even the interviewer, is expecting, so it’s okay to be Tony a little more. Not full on Stark Expo, but he can be Tony on a relatively tight leash, that kind of Spectacle. And as he lowers his hand in that second gif, you see the change. His face turning upward as he turns on a little bit more of the spectacle. His body language from thereout relaxes and expands. RDJ is a very physical man, an energy which carries over into Tony Stark, Charlie Chaplin, basically every role I see him in.

He grins, considering exactly how far he can go. Yes, this is all scripted, but that’s his keyword that it’s coming, that he’s allowed to put on a show. He rocks on his heels, an anticipatory motion as opposed to his earlier side to side self-soothing rocking, as he lets Ms. Paltrow go first so he won’t usurp her. She’s working in a second language, no fair distracting her. And from all accounts I’ve heard of, he genuinely values her contributions and likes her, which means he’s not going to be rude to her.

The rest of it is fun and his movements are solid and happy and confident. He doesn’t actually invade her personal space with his hand, either, from what I could see. He cheats it to the audience, but I think she had a fair buffer. And he was ALL Tony when he knelt next to the kid and he was clearly enjoying that.

The one thing that keeps him going, over and over again. He has to keep looking after Sam. Even when he can’t stand him. Even when it’s hard. Even when it means leaving behind his family, a real family, the first family he’s had that wasn’t held together by murder and hatred and vengeance and pure duty.

That last gif is what gets me. That downward motion of his head, of his shoulders, like a foot stomp. This is final. This is it. You take away every single thing that he needs to do, there’s one thing you can’t take away. And that’s looking after Sam.

I can really, really enjoy wincest, but I will always have a special spot for ‘mama Dean.’

Morning-after pill available over the counter to all ages in US

USA TODAY: A federal judge in New York has ordered the Food and Drug Administration to make the “morning-after” pill available over the counter and without prescription to girls of all ages.

The ruling overturns a decision in 2011 by Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius which barred over-the-counter sales of the controversial pill to girls under 17. Sebelius’ decision itself had overruled an FDA recommendation to widen availability.

Tony stood watching the fireworks outside as he took in the panoramic view. There would be fireworks erupting pretty much all over the city, pretty much all night. He smiled as twin screams of horror came from the bedroom, taking one last long swallow of his scotch.

“Tony, get in here!” came Pepper’s voice. It was Pepper’s ‘if you do not do as I say this instant, Tony, you will spend your next six months in board meetings with every board I can find that you are even nominally involved in, for anything’ voice.

He set the tumbler down and headed in. ”You need me that badly, darlings?” he purred.

Steve and Pepper were wearing twin looks of vaguely horrified exasperation.

“What did you do to the bed, Tony?” Steve demanded, looking absolutely delicious in nothing but his briefs.

Tony glanced over. ”What, those old things?” he asked smirking.

“I know more about every single thing you own than you do. You have not owned those sheets before today. I would have noticed.”

“Well, okay. I found the fabric online and I thought Steve might appreciate them for Independence Day.”

“I don’t appreciate that, Tony,” Steve said seriously.

Tony grinned. ”You don’t?”

“Why would you make fun of this?”

Pepper sighed audibly. ”Steve, let’s not have a speech on patriotism. Tony, change the sheets and apologize to Steve for ruining the mood.”

“How did I ruin the mood?” Tony asked. ”Look at those boys, I’d think those would put you straight into the mood.”

“Tony, sheets,” Pepper said firmly.

“JARVIS, where do we keep the—”

“JARVIS, if you answer him, I’ll make sure you don’t get to play with him in the workshop for a MONTH.”

“Yes, Miss Potts.”

“That’s not fair.”

Steve smiled at her. ”I think it is,” he said. ”I think either you change the sheets or you sleep in here alone and don’t get to enjoy the way the fireworks reflect on Pepper’s skin.”

Tony learned where the sheets were kept that night.
